What the State Can Do in Relation to the Platforms

While states are usually seen as powerless in relation to the platforms, a number of European initiatives regarding the regulation of the social networks indicate that the law has not yet said its last word with regard to the governance of the internet. Based on the examples of the struggle against hate speech and fake news, the article explores the different levers of action of the state for the regulation of online content.
