The recent evolution of the Japanese citizen’s political culture

A narrow conception of the socio-cultural determinisms of the Japanese
political system has led to singling out the weakness of the mechanisms of
political participation and mobilization of the citizens. However, following
the considerable transformations that have affected the Japanese society
since 1945 and given the general crisis of the representative system, the political
culture of the Archipelago has become more modern and more
flexible. At the same time, despite the decline of civic activity, the global
demand for full participation in the political system remains strong and
expresses itself in new ways.
