The malagasy political structure taken in the context of the world communist system as a whole, cleary shows that this country belongs to the States oriented towards socialism operating at the very border of the system. The ideological beliefs, the institutional and economic choices, the option establishing the foreign policy all contribute to this statement. However, a political and sociological analysis based on the very realities and vicissitudes of the Regime tends to show some unnegligible brakes on the irreversibility of the soviet influence and on the durability of the present structure. Nevertheless, the true problem consists in perceiving that the concessions already made to the USSR must be analysed basically in military and strategic terms.
