The career

The career of a French judge is extremely complicated. Because of the great number of hierarchical levels, the french judge is constantly obsessed by promotion. Reaching the « hors hiérarchie » (which means obtaining one of the 285 offices at that level) is the achievement of a professional life.

Is there a typology of careers ? It is likely and in the article 4 are chosen, the imperial way, the provincial way, the parisian way and the surprising way. Yet it is easier to discover the qualities which prevent a judge to succeed than those which lead to success. Only a very thorough inquiry could lead to a certainty.

Legal knowledge and judiciary practice are not so important to achieve a great career. This is the great paradox.
