The Struggle against Terrorism in the Mediterranean Region
Pouvoirs n°183 - novembre 2022 - La Méditerranée - p.99-110
Unique crossroad of human, commercial and cultural exchanges, the Mediterranean region represents an incomparable asset for the countries that compose it. However, the freedom it offers carries its share of vulnerabilities in front of the transnational security threats, notably because of the terrorist agents who have increasingly chosen to settle there since the early 2000s. Under the pressure of major jihadist networks in the Levant and the Sahel, the countries in the region are experiencing similar security threats justifying the establishment of a deeper cooperation within the framework of a partnership effort which, alone, could transform the Mediterranean into a common secured space.
