Over the last twenty years, under the influence of the European
construction and the increase of international exchanges, the lawyer
profession has been increasingly internationalized. Goaded by the
demands of French clients wishing to invest abroad or vice versa,
lawyers have internationalized their training and their practices. Following
the setting up of foreign legal firms in France, the loosening
of regulations has allowed the setting up of French legal firms abroad.
However, the reality of this trend should not mask the limits of the
internationalization process: the high specialization of national legal
systems and the personalization of the relationship with the local economic
fabric will still ensure the quasi-monopoly of national lawyers
over the profession for some time to come.
