The International Dimensions of the National Front
Pouvoirs n°157 - Le Front national - avril 2016 - p.105-113
While Marine Le Pen’s National Front has intensified its sovereignist stance, it nevertheless remains embedded in an international political ecosystem. The generational change between father and daughter has not revolutionised the geopolitical understanding of the party, all the more so as the theoreticians of the radical far-right have provided a varied legacy of available conceptions. Nevertheless, the stance of the nf is now much more pro-Russian, and this is also clear in the trans- national relations of the party, as Moscow has replaced Rome as the major partner. Finally, the nf is also trying to organise the European far-right thanks to its presence in the European Parliament, which also provides practical and financial advantages for the national electoral competition.
