Some Lessons From the Italian "Judicial Parable"

Instead of assessing the impact of the great investigations only in the
light of their judicial results, the author intends to evaluate the impact
of the judiciary on Italian politics by analysing the evolution of the various
supports the judges receive in the public sphere, the fate of the new
judicial practices elaborated in the campaign against political corruption
and, finally, the transformation of the relationship between judges and
the political sphere. The analysis shows that ten years of bitter political
and judicial polemics have deeply transformed the judicial profession
with respect to its relationship with politics as well as its own
governance.
