Institutional stability : a mask for a society in crisis ?

After determining the causes of political instability, the article analyses the main changes that have taken place in the last few years in central government, Parliament, the political parties, the extra-Parliamentary organisations as well as in the relationships between them. Those changes, notably the weakening of party discipline in Parliament, the attack on consensual politics, the radicalisation of the parties have increased the constraints on the governing party and taken place in an evolution in which the respect of values and tradition is being frittered away.
