Feminisms in the Plural

The unifying power of the word “feminism” encompasses many differences, divergences, even radical oppositions. Concerning motherhood, contraception and abortion, prostitution, gallantry, secularism, the veil and more, the various trends of feminism have had (and still have) different points of view, depending on the different social and national contexts as well as on personal life stories and existential choices. In France, differentialist and universalist feminists have collided even on the debate over parity. The article does not attempt to present an exhaustive inventory of a turbulent story, but it questions the objects, the forms and the reasons of such disparities, which have, however, merged into a powerful movement in favour of women equality and liberty and against “male domination”.
