"An exemplary story" : continuity and change in the transmission of a family political tradition
Pouvoirs n°42 - La tradition politique - septembre 1987 - p.73-93
Every family has its own history, but it is less clear what constitutes the basis of a family tradition. The article tries to answer this question through a case study of what political tradition can mean to a family of broadly left-wing Catholic sympathies over a period of some three generations. This is done, firstly, by focussing on various mechanisms by which a tradition is created and perpetuated. Secondly, the article shows how a series of transformations, adjustments and internal displacements give life to a tradition and allow its transmission.
